To enhance access to their respective collections, a number of institutional members of the
Council have joined together to establish Group Access Capability (GAC) within the OCLC
Interlibrary Loan Subsystem.
Officially known as the Botanical and Horticultural Resource
Sharing Group, the consortium consists of more than a dozen special and research libraries
with significant and specialized collections in botany, horticulture and related plant sciences.
Currently there are two categories of membership in the CBHL Computer Consortium: Full Members and
Selective Users. A Full Member has full use of the OCLC system, including its online cataloging
and interlibrary loan subsystems, and has open access to full bibliographic records and
complete holdings information for all OCLC member libraries, including consortium members.
To encourage wider involvement by smaller special libraries, within the resource sharing group,
a Selective User category has also been established. Selective Users have access to holdings
records contributed by members of the CBHL GAC. An Institutional Membership in CBHL is required
to join the CBHL GAC.
